Here it is...

This time round I going to blog on my adventure this year. This also serves as a log for me...need to keep track of the events that I have gone to.

Feb'05:
It should be NUS Biathlon. (pls, this blur gal here can't exactly rem her dates). I actually sign up for Bi-lite. It was a 400m swim and 2.5km run. I did hesistate for a while. Can I do it? Would I die after the swim? Will I only finish the race when everyone is closing shop and packing up???!!! Then Jonathan my buddy kept telling me "go la go la...can one la. "Lets show pple pigs can fly but can run and swim too. At most finish last lor what can be worse rite?

The swim was just so horrible, all the hands and legs slapping on you, then there are the panic ones who will try to grab you! Scary! Slow and steady I finished my swim. ARRGH...so many staring, no image at all. When I reached the transition area, jonathan was waiting for me. We must finish the race together.

There we go...run and run. I was talking all the way. I will never forget this. Jon asked if I actually compartment my energy. "how come u haf energy to talk, ask u to run faster u say cannot???!!!" Hahaha..that's true. Maybe i have this special store for energy just for talking. No matter where, what and when I can still talk!

Cutting it short, that's my first biathlon. Though not the full length, the first taste of it was still considered sweet.

June '05: ATC:
I dunno where I got the courage to do this. Must be Jon's smoking skills have improved, manage to psycho me into this. I can I cycle, run, trek, kayak and abseil?????!!!! Kill me! Jus kill me! Watever. Maybe a tiny part of me wanted to go, seems so fun and exciting. The truth is...NOt fun at all! The morning started off with a heavy downpour, sure wet and muddy lor. Next a long run to the next checkpoint, u think MacRitchie is a great place to run, hahaha think again. The worst part was the cycling! Oredi thousand and one time I have been complaining that I am a lousy cyclist. Poor Weiyi, had to bear with it. Definitely tough for one to have a lousy partner. Thanks Weiyi! I never expect to finish the whole bicycle trail of Bt Timah. It has always been a "no entry" sign for me. Well, since I have signed up for the race, i must finish the race even if I am the last one to finish. So we dragged ourselves to finish it. Gald that I finished the race! Yes, still in one piece! HAhaha..bet u pple out there din expect it rite?

I was so tired so tired so tired....can no longer feel any of my muscles. Muscle achE? huh? wat's tt? i can't feel anything. was gg mad oredi....

Best part? I went to work the next day. Yes, work.

Far away there was a voice....so next year we coming again?

July '05:
This is for charity. It was the president's charity health relay, all health instituitions have representives to run a total of 100km. I say run a total of 100km..heee...my hospital only run the 3km part. So not really amazing la. It was a fun experience to run at 3am in the morning. No matter how crazy I am, I have never done sumting like tt.

These sum up my 1st half of 2005. Of course, the next half will proved to be as interesting. There are more characters coming into the pic.

A Runner's humble beginings (part 1)

Yes, i am pressured to start my own blog. Being a long winded person, my story has to be done in 2 parts. It is also not to bored u guys to death. Hahaha

How did all this craze about running came about? It all started 1 year ago(2004), my very first run was the president challenge health relay that I went with Jolene. We did just a mere 2.5 km. It was great because ever since i graduated I never had a proper run. Subsequently we went for Sheares Bridge Run. Not being too ambitious, we went for the 5km fun run. Of course this was easy for the athletic Jolene but it was like a achievement for me! Me running 5km???!!! I did it!

That's it. Suddenly running wasn't abt losing weight or being healthy or just my way of de-stressing. It was a challenging and fun activity I shared with my frens! Our next run was the 2nd link run. that was close to 10km...quite a disappointment when it was announced to fall short of 10km. Anyway it was amazing that I could run that much. I thought I would have collapsed or my lung would just burn. I bet my muscles were cursing me for torturing them. As though it was not enought making them carrying my big fat body, now to run and run.

How could the year end off without another run???!!! So of course we wouldn't miss the Singapore marathon known as the Standard Chartered Run too. I earned my very first finisher medal. Even though it was 10km.

Being newbie in all this running events, I had missed quite a number of events. Therefore I make it a point to go for all the run and swim events if possible in 2005.

Special thanks to frens like Jolene, Cupid and Howard for supporting me and encouraging me for the races. I would not have the courage to go if not for u guys.

Tha's all for now. Keep a look out for part 2! I will be blabbering all abt the silly and crazy things I did in 2005!

*sorrie, no pictures. Will try to put in some when I haf time.
